“The real horror of my life is not that I’ve killed some terrible people. The real horror is that the people I’ve loved didn’t love me back.”
Wow. So if you haven’t read the first book in this duet (I cannot find any info on a third book at this time) you must! Go pick up You by Caroline Kepnes or grab it off Audible for a seriously twisted story. Santino Fontano does a phenomenal job as our narrator in both novels. He transforms the ordinary to the extraordinary. He portrays Joe’s passion and anger in such a way that you sympathize with our favorite stalker.
Is it wrong that I kind of loved Joe? I mean in You he was a total fucking psychopath and he scared the ever living shit out of me, but in Hidden Bodies I truly feel that Caroline humanized him. I began to feel sorry for him when things did not work out as planned. I even began to cheer for him when they did!
“This, this is why you have to kill people. If you don’t, they don’t learn anything.”
This shit right here made me laugh out loud in the middle of work. #everyonewasstaring The justification. The body count. Yes there is one. No I am not telling. Read the book and find out. Better yet listen to it and enjoy the creepiness of Joe and all Santino brings to him.
The creepiest part? Joe is a psychopath. Nobody knows Joe is a psychopath until he’s killing them. That’s the thing about psychopaths, they can be charming, they can gain your trust. They can hold relationships and their partner can be totally unaware…. so I ask you this, who’s your Joe????
